Privacy policy

Last Updated: April 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Cjoy LLC, doing business as Mazadastore, handles personal information when you browse our website, purchase books from us, sign up for our emails, or get in touch with our customer service team. Our goal is to be straightforward about what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. We believe privacy should not require a legal degree to understand.

If anything in this policy raises a question for you, reach out to us at contact@mazadastore.com and we will walk you through it.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Mazadastore sells books, not personal information. We do not run advertising networks, we do not build data profiles for sale, and we do not treat customer information as a revenue source. The personal details we collect serve one purpose, which is to deliver the books you ordered and to make your experience on our website work smoothly. This mindset shapes every choice described in the sections below.

What Prompts Us to Collect Information

Information enters our systems at specific moments in your interaction with our website. When you place an order, we need enough details to charge your payment method, ship the book to the correct address, and email you with updates. When you create an account, we save that information so you do not need to re-enter it every time. When you reach out to customer service, the content of your message becomes part of our support records so we can help you and improve our responses. When you sign up for our newsletter, we add your email to a separate list used only for that purpose. When you simply browse our website, certain technical data is recorded automatically by your browser and our servers.

Each of these touchpoints generates its own type of information, and we treat each type differently based on how sensitive it is and what we need it for.

What Information Exists in Our Records

The information we hold about our customers falls into several practical categories.

Contact details cover your first and last name, email address, phone number, and the addresses you provide for shipping and billing. Purchase history covers the books you have ordered, the dates of those orders, the amounts paid, and any returns or exchanges processed. Payment records contain only partial information, specifically the last four digits of the card used, the card type, and the authorization reference from the processor. The full card number, expiration date, and security code are transmitted directly from your browser to PayPal or Stripe and never touch our servers. Technical signals captured automatically include your Internet Protocol address, the browser and operating system you are using, the pages you visit on our site, how long you stay on each page, and the website that referred you to us if any. Communications records include any emails, phone calls, chat messages, or form submissions exchanged between you and our support team.

We do not collect health information, racial or ethnic background, religious beliefs, political views, biometric data, or any other category considered sensitive under California law, because none of this information is needed to sell you a book.

How We Obtain the Information

Most of the information in our records comes from you directly, entered at checkout, in your account profile, or in communications you send to us. A smaller portion arrives automatically from the devices and browsers you use, through standard web technologies that every modern website relies on. A third portion comes from the service providers we work with, for example when a shipping carrier updates us on the delivery status of your order or when a payment processor confirms that your transaction was successful. Occasionally, when we need to verify an address or investigate suspected fraud, we may consult publicly available records or fraud prevention databases.

Cookies and Tracking Explained Plainly

When you visit mazadastore.com, small data files called cookies are placed on your device to help the website function. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the site to work at all, such as the cookie that remembers what is in your shopping cart while you browse. Some cookies help us understand how customers use our site in aggregate, which pages are popular and where visitors tend to get stuck, so we can make improvements. Some cookies support marketing activities, such as measuring whether our advertising is reaching the right audience.

You have control over cookies through your browser settings, where you can block them entirely or delete existing ones. Keep in mind that blocking essential cookies will break features like the shopping cart, so most visitors prefer to allow cookies while using privacy controls to limit tracking.

What We Actually Do With Your Information

Everything we collect is used for one of the following activities. We process your order from start to finish, including charging the correct amount, packing the right book, and shipping it to the address you gave us. We keep you informed about your order through confirmation, shipping, and delivery emails. We respond to your questions, complaints, and return requests through our customer service team. We operate and maintain the website itself, fixing bugs, adding features, and securing it against attacks. We analyze traffic patterns in aggregate to understand which books customers are looking for and which pages need improvement. We send promotional emails about new arrivals, sales, and recommendations, but only to customers who have chosen to receive them. We investigate suspicious activity that might indicate fraud, account takeover, or abuse of our services. We comply with laws, subpoenas, and regulatory requirements when legally required to do so.

Who Else Sees Your Information

Information leaves Mazadastore only in specific, limited situations. Our payment processors PayPal and Stripe receive the payment data needed to charge your card, under strict contractual obligations that prohibit them from using your information for their own unrelated purposes. Our shipping carriers FedEx, UPS, and USPS receive the name and address needed to deliver your order. Our email service provider handles the delivery of transactional and marketing emails on our behalf. Our analytics provider processes aggregated website usage data to help us measure performance. Our customer service platform stores the content of your support inquiries so we can respond and maintain service records.

Beyond these operational partners, we disclose information only when a valid legal process requires it, such as a court order or subpoena, or when doing so is necessary to protect the safety of our customers, our employees, or the public. If Cjoy LLC is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information about customers may transfer to the successor entity, and you will be notified of any such change through our website and by email.

We do not sell your personal information in exchange for money, and we take care to structure our advertising partnerships so that they do not involve sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising in ways that would trigger the CCPA's broader definition. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and give California residents a clear opt-out mechanism before any change takes effect.

California Privacy Rights in Detail

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and we honor these rights regardless of whether you have ever made a purchase from us.

You may request that we disclose the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the specific pieces of that information, where it came from, why we have it, and with whom we have shared it. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information. You may request that we delete your personal information, with limited exceptions for information we must keep to complete pending transactions, prevent fraud, or comply with legal obligations. You may request that we limit our use of any sensitive personal information we hold about you, though as noted earlier we generally do not collect such information. You may opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information as defined by California law, and the details of this opt-out are explained in full on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. You are entitled to exercise any of these rights without facing discrimination in the prices we charge, the quality of service we provide, or the availability of the books we sell.

To submit any of these requests, email contact@mazadastore.com with a description of what you are asking for. We will verify your identity through information already in our records and respond within the timeframes required by California law, which is generally 45 days with a possible 45-day extension for complex requests, and 15 business days for opt-out requests.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control Signals

Your browser may send a Do Not Track signal or a Global Privacy Control signal when you visit our website. As of January 2026, California regulations treat a Global Privacy Control signal from a California resident as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information, and we honor it as such. If we detect this signal from your browser, we apply the opt-out to your session automatically, without requiring you to submit a separate email request. Other Do Not Track signals remain inconsistent across browsers and are not treated as universal opt-out signals by current California law, but we respect their spirit by not engaging in the kind of cross-site tracking that would make them meaningful.

Children's Privacy

Mazadastore is intended for adults and teenagers old enough to place their own orders. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Some of the books we sell may be appropriate for younger readers, but the purchase itself must be made by a parent, guardian, or adult on the child's behalf.

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us without parental consent, please contact us immediately at contact@mazadastore.com. We will promptly delete any such information from our records upon verification.

Email Marketing and Your Inbox

When you sign up for our newsletter or check a box at checkout to receive promotional emails, we add you to our marketing list and send occasional messages about new arrivals, book recommendations, sales, and bookstore news. Every marketing email we send includes a visible unsubscribe link that removes you from the list within a few days, as required by the federal CAN-SPAM Act. If you prefer to manage preferences directly, you can also email contact@mazadastore.com and ask us to remove you from any list manually.

Transactional emails such as order confirmations, shipping notifications, and customer service replies are separate from marketing emails and continue as long as you have active orders or open support conversations with us. These are not promotional messages and are not subject to unsubscribe, though you can close your customer account at any time if you want to end the relationship entirely.

Security Measures in Place

Protecting your information requires a combination of technology and discipline, and we take both seriously. Our website runs on secure infrastructure with encryption applied to all data transmitted between your browser and our servers. Payment information flows directly to PayPal and Stripe, both of which maintain PCI DSS Level 1 certification, the highest security standard in the payment industry. Internal access to customer records is limited to employees who need the information to do their jobs, and those employees are trained on privacy and security practices. Our systems are monitored for suspicious activity, and we regularly update our software to address newly discovered vulnerabilities.

While no system can guarantee absolute security against every possible threat, the combination of these measures keeps your information well protected under typical circumstances.

How Long We Keep Information

Personal information is retained only as long as it serves a legitimate purpose. Customer account information stays in our records while your account is active and for a reasonable period after your last interaction, so we can handle late returns, investigate any disputes, and comply with tax and accounting regulations. Order records are kept for at least seven years to meet tax and financial reporting requirements under United States law. Customer service communications are kept for up to three years to maintain a complete support history. Marketing list information is kept until you unsubscribe, after which we retain a record of your opt-out to ensure we do not contact you again in error. Technical data from website analytics is retained in aggregated form without individual identifiers, so it cannot be traced back to you.

When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted from our active systems and eventually removed from our backups during normal backup rotation cycles.

Geographic Scope

Mazadastore sells books within the United States only and therefore collects and processes information primarily within the country. Our service providers are based in the United States as well. We do not actively market to customers in Europe, the United Kingdom, or other regions with their own privacy frameworks such as GDPR, and we are not subject to those laws in the ordinary course of our business.

If you are visiting our website from outside the United States, you should understand that any information you submit will be transferred to and processed in the United States under United States privacy law, which may differ from the laws of your location.

Updates to This Policy

Privacy practices and privacy laws both evolve over time, and this policy will evolve with them. When we make changes, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date at the top. Material changes that significantly affect how we handle your information will be communicated to customers with active accounts through email, and we may also display a notice on our website for a period of time before the change takes effect.

Continued use of our website after an update indicates that you accept the revised policy. If you ever disagree with a change, you can stop using our services and request deletion of your information through the rights described in the California Privacy Rights section.
